What are fillers?
Cosmetic fillers are injections that plump, volumize, and soften lines/folds of the face. The results are instant but not permanent and can last from a few months up to a few years depending on area treated.
What type of fillers are available at Physicians Body Sculpting?
At Physicians Body Sculpting, we offer mainly two different kinds of filler; ones with hyaluronic acid such as Juvederm(R) or Restylane(R), and Radiesse(R). Both kinds of product have been used for cosmetic purposes for several years. The “main” ingredient in these products is found naturally within our bodies, making them safe and easy to use.
How do fillers work?
Fillers add volume to the areas that are injected. It softens and smoothens lines and folds of the face and adds volume to areas such as cheeks, temples, and lips. The filler itself adds volume to the area but it also stimulates your own collagen production in the treated area. This gives you a natural look that can last from several months to a year or longer. Over time, the body metabolizes/breaks down the product, leaving behind your own natural collagen.
What does the treatment involve?
Treatment involves a consultation with the doctor and/or one of our experienced injectors. During the consultation, we will determine what your concerns are and then create a plan of which product(s) would be best suited for your individual needs.
Treatment typically takes 15-30 minutes, depending on the area(s) treated. The filler is injected through a small needle placed under the skin. Most clients tolerate the treatment very well, with minimal discomfort, if any. We apply a topical numbing cream to lessen the discomfort of the injections and products have local anesthetic in them to further minimize any discomfort.
What can I expect from the treatment?
Fillers provide immediate volume and correction. It typically takes 3-5 days for it to look its best as it can induce some temporary swelling and bruising to the treated area. There is little downtime involved and a lot of clients will continue their daily routines after injections. We advise not working out or extreme activity for the remainder of the day and ice applied intermittently for the first day can also lessen the swelling.
